Performance Foods, Inc. was founded in 1989 and incorporated in 1991. Owners Dr. Tom Willard, Ph.D. and Patricia Willard began Performance Foods with the goal of building a niche market for ferrets.

Performance Foods, Inc. is a privately held company located in Broomfield, Colorado.

Mission Statement: Performance Foods, Inc. will maintain leadership in manufacturing, developing and distributing superior valued carnivore products. We provide our customers with ethical business practices and the highest quality products, through design, research, testing and proving all life stage foods, nutritional treats and supplements for the complete welfare of carnivore pets.

 Dr Tom Willard PhD, and his wife Patricia, began Performance Foods Inc. over sixteen years ago. Dr W, a graduate of NC State, holds a double degree in Animal Nutrition and Biochemistry. He has worked in the pet food industry for over 35 years. Both trusted and respected by his peers, he has devoted his career to carnivore nutrition, their optimum diets and their well-being.

Patricia (Trish) Willard, Dr W’s wife and business partner, has worked in many areas of the company with focus on administration, special projects and finance. With some 21 years within the pet food arena gives her both the experience and “know how” on how to get the job done, and is the cement in this unique team.

Liz Lovins, Customer Relations and Canine Specialist, has been with Performance Foods, Inc. five years. She has loved and owned dogs and horses as long as she can remember. Liz is our resident dog food specialist with an added passion for Disc Dogs. When not at the office or a disc dog event, Liz enjoys spending time in the mountains with her family, their two rescued dogs, Lucy and Kit, 4-wheeling in their modified Jeep and traveling. Now she is active in the border collie world with one foster dog that has now been adopted, as well as competing with her own in the novice throw and catch division head to head with her eldest son.

April Pietro,aka, Big Old Name,is our Customer Relations and Ferret Specialist. She keeps a smile on our faces and always reminds us that owning a ferret should be fun. In turn she is owned by several ferrets including Mz Isabella Gucci-Jones, our mascot. April is involved with all different aspects of ferrets including working closely with the ferret community and the endangered black-footed ferret (not a pet). She regularly volunteers for Prairie Wildlife Research, a non-profit dedicated to black-footed ferret conservation.
